Zhilikam t'°Graun° t'Stivuhn King
In their long history, the Vulcans are not known to have had a form of literature like the horror novels of Earth, although this genre is common in other humanoid cultures. The Klingons had a very rich form of this in their past. The classic horror novels of the prolific Stephen King of 20th and 21st Century C.E. Earth, and films based on them, have entertained the peoples of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants for centuries. The Shining is still one of the favorite novels from this writer. Vulcans have learned important things about the human psyche and culture from this material.
Below you will find vocabulary that you might find associated with The Shining in print and video. Be aware that filmed versions of this work often differ markedly from the original novel. For example, in the 1980 C.E. movie, there is a hedge maze, Hallorann apparently dies, Jack uses an ax instead of a roque mallet, there is an enclosed Snowcat instead of a snowmobile and the hotel is not destroyed, differing from the original novel.
